ポッドキャストプロジェクト

In this project, you will create a video podcast on a topic of your interest.

1. Purposes of the project:
1) To think about how you can communicate effectively
2) To work towards becoming an autonomous learner

2. Objectives
By using Japanese language and other modes of communication (tone of voice, body language,  graphical communication etc.), you will have an opportunity to:
1) Interact with Japanese speaking audiences by actively expressing and exchanging your views, thoughts, and opinions
2)  Reflect on the communication you have had and think about how you can improve your future communication

3. Audiences:
  • a worldwide audience of Japanese speakers and learners of Japanese
  • your classmates

4. Content:
You are free to choose a topic, but it must be thought-provoking, have a clear message, and appeal to the target audience.
Examples
· your opinions about social or global issues
· issues that come up in day-to-day life that raise questions
· cultural comparison and experiences

5. Steps:
  1. Form groups of three or more people, come up with a group name, and brainstorm ideas.
  2. Discuss what constitutes a good podcast or TV program.
  3. With #2 and your audience in mind, start writing a proposal.
  4. Revise your proposal based on your classmates’ comments.
  5. Write a script and submit a draft.
  6. Give comments to other groups based on the evaluation categories.
  7. Revise the script and submit the final version (Tentative Due: March 6th), and also submit the final podcast movie(Tentative Due: April 11th)
  8. Think about an effective way to reach out to the target audience and publicize your video.
  9. Communicate with Japanese speaking audiences who have left comments on your podcast movie.
  10. Evaluate podcasts, including a self-assessment of your own group    .

6. Targets of Evaluation
  • your group's podcast and your classmates' podcasts
  • the amount of effort you have put in for getting comments on your podcast movie
  • what you have attained as a result of such efforts described above
  • what you have done to appropriately maintain the communication between you and your audience during the commenting process

7. Evaluators
  • Your classmates, teaching assistants, your instructor, and yourself

2月日(火)クラスで、グループでアイディアをはなします。

2月5日(水)プロポーザル1をだします。(リーダーさん)
       学生、先生、TAさんからコメントをもらいます。

2月7日(金)プロポーザル1へのコメントをだします。

2月10日(月)ラボでコメントをよんで、プロポーザル2をかきます。

2月11日(火)プロポーザル2をだします。(サブリーダーさん)

2月13日(木)プロポーザル2 is returned with comments.

2月17日(月)ラボでスクリプト(ドラフト1)をかきます。
        (Start writing script in lab.)

2月27日(木)スクリプト(ドラフト1)をだします。
        (Submit a rough draft.)

3月3日(月)スクリプト(ドラフト1)をかえします。
ラボでもういちどかきます。
       (Your script is returned with comments. Revise it in lab.)

3月6日(木)スクリプト(ドラフト2)をだします。

3月10日(月)先生のオフィスでれんしゅうします。
 〜14日(金)(Make an appointment with your sensei and practice in his/her office.)

3月10日(月)Midterm Oral Exam/ Prepare for filming in lab.

月17日(月)ビデオをつくります。(Shoot and edit video.)

ポッドキャストの評価基準(ひょうかきじゅん) Criteria for Evaluating Video Podcasts

Below is a list of evaluation criteria created by last years' students. If you want to add something, leave comments on this blog post.

1. Language
Proper grammar, natural, good pronunciation, complexity of sentences, variety of grammar patterns and vocabulary, clearly spoken, Need to use words we have learned

2. Content
Entertaining, creative, easy to understand, informative, original, funny, unique, meaningful, educational, comical, catchy, clear message, attractive, amusing, relatable, engaging (sometimes visually), memorable, fluidity of scenes, quality of film, research and good thoughts is extra credit, emotional

3. Presentation
Decent, good, and sufficient editing (not necessarily professional looking), music, well-lit setting, some visuals, good sound quality, aesthetically pleasing, organized, acting, communicating your message, steady camera work, good script, compelling, good set design

4.  Consideration
Appropriate length, understandable language to listeners, (English if necessary as a subtitle), thoughtful, sound quality, appropriate lengthpodcasts should engage both Western and Japanese audiences

5. Process
All group members are involved, teamwork, logistical planning, equal participation, list a cast (crew credit ), fun
